Our jUNE, 2021 KITTENS

Solveig delivered two unexpected kittens on 22 June 2021. We did not believe she was pregnant and showed no physical attributes. A "Miss Twiggy, if you will. No preparation had been made ans she delivered the first kitten beneath the computer desk. The second was delivered in a cat transport carrier while we set up a maternity box in the nursery

Solveig's kittens are now 12 weeks old and ready to move to a permanent home

The two female kittens are full of energy and love to explore, romp and play. They reside in my bedroom and Ursa (the cattery name for her) usually sleeps right next to me at night when not playing with the kittens from both Solveig and Angelique. Urse, the slightly heavier girl is somewhat shy and will likely be a bit more reserved. Both kittens have had their shots and other checks but they will need a Rabies shot when at their new home/

Our first portraits of the new kittens were taken on 27 June. Their eyes have just begun to open in these photographs. Mom Solveig moved the kittens out of the birthing box and under a printer stand but not before I was able to capture a family portrait. UpperValley Solveig was born in a box just like the one set up for her and her mom has come in and examined the space as if she was planning to deliver a litter there in the near future. We will wait and see

And now the "U" litter kittens. As in the past each litter is named with all the litter names in the litter starting with the same first letter. This happens to be the "U" letter litter. In a way, I'm glad there are only two kittens. We could not come up with any names having the second letter a vowel in alphabetical order. I ask even the stars in our galaxy for help and they found one name, URSA, (Ursa Major and Ursa Minor). Ursa is sometimes used as a female name. Nothing for the second kitten so we made up one. She will be URSE. These are litter names and the mnew owners can pick whatever name they want. Ine of the "T" litter kittens was named by Amy, the new owner, as just "Mr. T"
